Marriage is a beautiful thing to a lot of people on earth, that same marriage has turned to be some couple's worst nightmare. Some are sincerely going through a lot in their marriages, to the extent of enduring for fear of what people will say.
The purpose of this article is to spot out certain mistakes that lead to a failed marriage, and how to control them for sound and healthy marriage life. If you're going through a lot in your marriage, this isn't to mock you, but to guide you into having a successful marriage. Before that, let's know what marriage itself is.

What is Marriage?
In a layman understanding, marriage is the union between a man and a woman, as husband and wife.
Why do People Marry?
There are earthly reasons why people marry, if you ask a lot of couples reasons for getting married, you'll be surprised to get varying responses ranging from child bearing, companionship, etc.
Despite varying responses, one thing is common, and that is the fact that they come together to help each other achieve one thing. So I will say that the greatest aim of marriage is "Mutual Help". This means, you help me achieve something, I also achieve either same thing or another.
God Supports Marriage.
God the creator of man, instituted marriage for the benefit of man. The mystery of marriage started back then in the Old Testament, the Book of Genesis 2v24 says that a man shall leave his father and mother, and join to his wife. Then they shall become husband and wife.
This shows that God is totally in support of marriage between a man and a woman, not a man and a man, or a woman and a woman.
Why Marriages Fail
As I stated at the beginning of this article, a good number of couples are regretting in marriage, while some are enjoying.
Marriage wasn't supposed to be managed or endured, it was supposed to be a way of living your life to the fullest. In some marriages, the reverse is the case.
From a careful research and a lifetime observation. I have come up with reasons why marriages fail, and they're are:
1. Infidelity
This mean unfaithfulness in marriage. It is the most common among all.
2 . Lack of Understanding
Two cannot work together except they agree and understand themselves, this is what needs to be considered for a marriage to be successful. Lack of understanding causes chaos.
3. Lack of Respect among Couples
Respect as we know is reciprocal, it should not be one-sided. Some couples especially the men sometimes feel that it should be the wife's sole responsibility to respect the husband, this isn't totally true, respect should be both sided for a smooth marriage.
4. Wrong Choice of Marriage
Where comes a mistake is when you get married to a wrong person, getting married for financial support is a wrong reason, wrong purpose in marriage causes strong damage to the individuals involved.
5. Lack of Endurance
Looking at the wealthy men of our century, the majority of them never became wealthy before marriage. Some got married poor, and worked their way to the top together. Lack of endurance can cause a marriage to fail.
6. Third Party Interference
There's this trend in most of African homes, if a husband and the wife have a misunderstanding, they try to bring in other people. This is bad, try to settle your differences in love without bringing in a third party, a good number of them are there to make things worst and not to settle.
7. Unnecessary Comparison
In all you do in your marriage, try not to compare your spouse with another. There's no perfect marriage, comparison causes conflicts in marriage.
Things to Consider for a Successful Marriage.
1. Let God be the number one in your marriage
2. Build a Strong Communication System among yourselves as couples
3. Make plans together
4. Respect and love each other
5. As a man, make your wife feel as if she's the most beautiful in the world, same thing applicable to wives.
6. Above all, please develop Strong Trust System for yourselves. What break marriages most as I know is suspicion or lack of trust.
7. Be Contented as lack of contentment brings unnecessary jealousy.
Marriage isn't as easy as perceived, but it works because two people determine it'll work.
Try to try these steps I've outlined above in order for your marriage to work.
In a broken marriage, the children tend to suffer more, the more reason Christianity isn't in support of it.
