The General Overseer of Christ Living Hope Church, Rev. Ugochukwu Emmanuel Ekwem, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for carrying 54 sticks of drugs while travelling to Nairobi, Kenya for a three-week crusade.
The Christ Living Hope Church has it headquarters in Awka, Anambra and branches in Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria.
The drugs tested to be cannabis, was found on the youthful and popular preacher at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, in Lagos while passengers were on an outward clearance to board an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Nairobi via Addis Ababa.
A part of the statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi read; “When tested, the 54 sticks proved positive to cannabis.
"The clergyman confessed during [a] preliminary interview that he packed that quantity of illicit substance on his body to use during his three weeks crusade in Kenya,” NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said in the statement.
