Celestial Church of Christ parish burn in Sokoto, Celestial Church condemns killing of Deborah Samuel

Nigeria - The leadership of the Celestial Church of Christ, has condemned the rampage which led to the stoning, burning and killing of a 22-year-old Christian student, Deborah Samuel over a controversy based on blasphemy their Islam.


In a statement signed by Superior Evangelist Kayode Ajala mentioned that the leader of the Church, Reverend E.M.F Oshoffa condemned "in very strong terms the killing of Deborah Samuel Yakubu," while noting that the riots that ensued subsequently due to demand that those arrested in connection to the killing should be released led to the burning of Celestial Church of Christ, Parish 3 in the state.


He applauded the government for its prompt intervention by declaring a curfew in the affected areas. 


Oshoffa was thankful to God that no life was lost while the parish of the Church was set ablaze, but pleaded with members of the Church to "remain calm and be prayerful in the face of provocation.
