Talking drum in the Church

The introduction of the drums, especially the talking drum by Nigerian Churches as part of the music instruments used for praising God, has been described as a game changer in a social media discussion.

One of the discussants mentioned how he prefers praising God, as he revealed that the presence of a talking drum will make him praise God better. He mentioned this in a comment while responding to a post by popular Facebook writer, Ademola Henry Adigun.

In the Facebook post, Ademola has written about how the introduction of drums by African instituted Churches evolved away from how music is played in the Churches introduced by westerners.

A quote from Ademola's Facebook page read "That’s why the African Church had to evolve from the Anglican and Catholic faith. Drums yen la fi yin Jesu." (It's the drum that we use in praising Jesus.)

In his response, Peter agrees with Ademola by saying that, "If I enter a Church and during praise and worship there is not (no) talking drum, I'm heading out immediately to find one where God is praised with everything that makes sound. Make i dance to my God abegi."
