Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has criticized the 2023 elections during a webinar titled 'Building the New Nigeria: The Role of the Diaspora.'

The cleric accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of mishandling the previous election process, which resulted in Bola Tinubu becoming president. The webinar, organized by the PTB4Nigeria In Diaspora Group, had over 200 participants and took place on Saturday, as reported by The Punch.

In response to a question during the Q&A session, Bakare laughed and stated that he would convey his refusal to acknowledge Tinubu as his president to President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he sometimes referred to as "My President." Bakare highlighted the differences in values between Buhari and Tinubu during a visit to the President, emphasizing his decision not to consider Tinubu as his president.

The former presidential aspirant said, “Last Wednesday, I was at the Glass House where he (Buhari) has been restricted now because the main house is being renovated. I said I have done that for you. I want you to know that because of the circumstances of your flying into power on the wings of integrity and incorruptibility, but you’re now passing onto someone who does not have that value."

Bakare made it clear that he did not participate in the 2023 elections, dismissing any claims of his defeat. Despite receiving no votes, he expressed pride in standing up to power and speaking truthfully. The cleric's remarks revealed his dissatisfaction with the election process and his reluctance to accept Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, emphasizing the need for improvements in the country's political system.
