Spiritual work in Christianity involves the use of items alongside prayer to enhance the effectiveness of the prayer and speed up requests made to God. It involves actions performed in conjunction with prayer, showcasing a range of approaches beyond direct declarations through faith.
Therefore, Spiritual works in Christianity can be simply put as activities done alongside prayer to speed up requests made to God.
While some Christians may argue against spiritual works, as they may opine that direct declaration through faith will get prayers answers, a good look at some of the miracles of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will show that he did not fully make use of only direct declaration while performing miracles.
In the gospel of John, one of Jesus Christ's miracles was mentioned in which He spat on the ground and mixed the saliva with the soil on the ground, then rubbed them on the blind man's eye. The first miracle we should look at is when Moses followed Jehovah God's directive; to strike a rock and then water will gush out from it. Remember God in his Almightiness may have just commanded water to flow from the rock without Moses performing any activity.

Additionally, the miracle performed in 2 Kings 2 by Prophet Elisha is a form of spiritual work. In verses 19 - 22, Elisha had waited in Jericho, where he was informed that the source of water in the city was not usable.
The Amplified Bible captured the event as "And the men of the city said to Elisha, Behold, inhabiting of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees, but the water is bad and the locality causes miscarriage and barrenness [in all animals].
"He said, Bring me a new bowl and put salt [the symbol of God's purifying power] in it. And they brought it to him.
"Then Elisha went to the spring of the waters and cast the salt in it and said, Thus says the Lord: I [not the salt] have healed these waters; there shall not be any more death, miscarriage or barrenness [and bereavement] because of it.
"So the waters were healed to this day, as Elisha had said."
Again, Elisha could have made prayers without the salt, but he made use of the salt to demonstrate the dynamism through which miracles can be performed.
One important argument against spiritual works is that it is no longer necessary in the modern day for Christians, as they argue that prayer is enough. This is mostly put up by Christians who attend Pentecostal-based denominations.
While the white garment and some orthodox Churches are largely known for spiritual works in Christianity, the use of specific items such as white handkerchiefs, olive oil and bottled water by the Pentecostal-based denominations, for prayers are also forms of spiritual works.

A situation, where the use of animals as materials for spiritual works has no place in Christianity, as no blood is more precious than the blood of Jesus.
Therefore, there shouldn't be any worry regarding spiritual works as Christians in as much as what it's being applied for is to ensure that miracles are performed in the name of Jesus and items used are not classified as fetish.
However, the classification of an item as being a fetish ranges from different points of view is as a form of one's denomination. While Pentecostal churches do not see the use of handkerchiefs, olive oil and water for prayer as forms of spiritual works, they see the use of fruits such as coconut, oranges, pineapples, candles, palm fronds, incense and other items as fetish by white garment churches and some orthodox churches.
