Looking through the book of Ezra this morning, I  discovered that the first five verses in chapter seven were used to introduce the person and the background of Ezra. I read it twice ignoring the long introduction until a thought came to my mind about the reason for so much people related to his profile.

Meaning of Ezra

After unravelling the meaning of all the names attached to his profile his name inclusive, the meaning of the names speak volume:

* Ezra : Help

* Seraiah: God has prevailed

* Azariah: God has helped 

* Hilkiah: God's portion 

* Shallum: Reward 

* Zadok: Just 

* Ahitub: My brother is good 

* Amariah: God said 

* Meraioth: Rebellious 

* Zerahiah: Rising of God 

* Uzzi: Forceful 

* Bukki: Wasteful 

* Abishua: Father of abundance 

* Phinehas: Mouth of serpent 

* Aaron the priest 

He got to Jerusalem from Babylon on May 1st according to the good hand of his God upon him -7:9. Jerusalem means city of peace and bread.
