Celestial Church members kidnapped
Dagunro and Ajose

Kidnappers who took away two leaders of Celestial Church, from SBJ Oshoffa Parish, Wasimi, in the Ewekoro Local Government, Ogun State, have released them after cash and other items were collected as ransom.

The incident which took place last Monday was terrific for members, as the Assistant Pastor (assistant shepherd) of the parish, Oluwaseun Ajose, and a Sunday school teacher, Dagunro Ayobami were kidnapped, as gunmen with covered faces invaded the Church and initially demanded 50 Million Naira ($125,000) for their release.

However, on Saturday the duo were released, as declared by the leader of the Parish, Superior Evangelist Oluwatomisin Olugbebi.

Olugbebi noted that the kidnappers called early on Saturday morning and demanded that the duo will be released and demanded that the sum of 1 Million Naira ($2,000), foodstuffs, cigarettes, and gin should be made available to them.

With the help of well-wishers and other members of the church from across the world, the items were gotten. In a report by Punch Metro, Olugbebi narrated how the exchange was made.

“They did not give a specific location where we should drop the money. They asked to speak to the sister of one of the victims and told her to come to a certain location. When she got there, she called them and they told her to give the phone to the bike rider.

“They told the bike rider their location without disclosing it to her. The bike rider then took her to the location where the money and the requested foodstuffs were dropped. After like 10 minutes, they asked her to come and pick them (victims) up at the bus stop.”
